- Congressman Severino Cavalcanti:
Mr. Cavalcanti is the strongest opponent of Brazil's bill No 1.151
that would grant federal recognition of same-sex couples. His
rhetoric calls for marriage between a man and a woman only, and
places recognition of same-sex relationships in a "special
right" category. Unfortunately Mr. Cavalcanti is unable to
understand that rights associated with marriage provide a lot
of protection to a couple when it comes to issues such as inheritance,
taxes, and of course immigration. Please explain to him that his
arguments are hurting more people than those he is allegedly protecting.

- Congressman Philemon Rodrigues:
Let him know that recognition of same-sex relationships is indeed
an important issue. According to Mr. Rodrigues, Brazil should
not be dealing with social issues because it is a Third World
country. Unfortunately Mr. Rodrigues fails to see that one of
the largest divides between First and Third World countries are
social issues. People in First World countries have more social
freedoms and protections that people in Third World countries.
One of Brazil's most desired goals is to become a First World
country, so please tell Mr. Rodrigues to act as such and approve
bill No 1.151. Also let him know that homosexuality is not immoral,
not a disease to be cured and that homosexuality does not remove
God-given sexual pleasure from women since half of the homosexual
population are women who are not interested in having intercourse
with men. Arguing that Homosexuality is an offense to women, is
total and utter disrespect of women's right to their own sexuality.
