SUNNYVALE, Calif., Aug. 06, 2002 - Love Sees No Borders, an educational organization focused on raising awareness of the plight of same-sex binational couples and their fight to remain together, today announced that it has secured fiscal sponsorship from the National Center for Lesbian Rights, located in San Francisco. Thanks to NCLR's support, Love Sees No Borders will cease to be a solely self-funded organization.

"Love Sees No Borders' activism has been fundamental to shedding light on the injustices suffered by LGBT binational same-sex couples," said Shannon Minter, NCLR's Legal Director and coordinator of NCLR's Immigration Project. "When same-sex binational couples are denied equal immigration rights, the government is tearing our families apart and attempting to dictate who we can love. This is contrary to basic human rights and a slap in the face to the dignity and freedom of LGBT people. NCLR is proud to offer support to these couples through its Immigration Project, and by supporting Love Sees No Borders."

Love Sees No Borders was founded in August 2001 by Leslie Bulbuk and Marta Donayre with the mission to educate the LGBT community as well as society at large about the problems faced by same-sex binational couples. Since inception, Love Sees No Borders has been self-funded. This seriously limited the organization's ability to expand their efforts and reach a larger audience. NCLR's fiscal sponsorship will enable Love Sees No Borders to increase its activities and audiences.

"We are honored and immensely grateful to receive such significant help that will provide us the tools to raise funds to continue our work on awareness and education, which we hope it will one day materialize into immigration equality for all couples."
