Love Sees No Borders Mourns the Loss of Coretta Scott King
Civil Rights Leader an Advocate of Equality and Justice for All

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jan. 31, 2006 – Love Sees No Borders announced today that is it mourning the loss of Coretta Scott King, a fervent advocate for human rights, equality and justice.

“A great voice was silenced today,” said Leslie Bulbuk, Love Sees No Borders co-founder. “It is up to us to stand up in her memory to Ensure that her legacy, as well as that of her husband, is continued. We can never forget that an ‘injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.’”

This is particularly true in the intersecting areas of LGBT and immigrant rights. Our LGBT families are often the victims of both homophobia and of xenophobia, and are often overlooked by the larger social justice movement as well as by the LGBT and immigrant rights movements.

"Homophobia is like racism and anti-Semitism and other forms of bigotry in that it seeks to dehumanize a large group of people, to deny their humanity, their dignity and personhood," said King in 1998 when speaking before nearly 600 people at the Palmer House Hilton Hotel, in Chicago.

Love Sees No Borders pledges to continue its commitment to our communities by taking a stand against injustice.
